PARIS - Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain claimed a dramatic 5-4 victory over Bayern Munich in a pulsating Champions League semi-final first leg. The match set a record for the most goals scored at this stage of the competition.
PSG came from behind to build a 5-2 lead with goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele. Bayern responded with two quick goals before the hour mark, narrowing the deficit for the return leg in Munich.
Harry Kane opened the scoring for Bayern with a 17th-minute penalty, becoming the first English player to score in six consecutive Champions League matches. PSG equalized through Kvaratskhelia, followed by a goal from Joao Neves. Bayern's Olise leveled the score at 2-2 in the 41st minute. Dembele converted a stoppage-time penalty to give PSG a 3-2 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Kvaratskhelia and Dembele extended PSG's lead to 5-2. However, Bayern fought back with two goals from Dayot Upamecano and Luis Diaz within three minutes, bringing the final score to 5-4. Senny Mayulu nearly added a sixth for PSG late in the game, rattling the woodwork.
