India has successfully defended its Twenty20 World Cup title, defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium. This marks the first time a team has retained the men's T20 World Cup.

Batting first, India posted a formidable 255-5. The foundation was laid by an explosive 98-run opening partnership between Sanju Samson, who scored 89, and Abhishek Sharma, who contributed 52. Ishan Kishan added a quick 54, though James Neesham's three-wicket over slowed India's momentum late in the innings.

Chasing a steep 256-run target, New Zealand faltered. A significant top-order collapse prevented them from mounting a serious challenge. Despite resilient innings from Tim Seifert (52) and Mitchell Santner (43), New Zealand was bowled out for 159 in 19 overs.
