Jean-Pierre Escalettes, former President of the French Football Federation (FFF), has died at the age of 90. Escalettes led the FFF from 2005 to 2010.

During his tenure, the French national team reached the 2006 World Cup final and France was awarded the hosting rights for Euro 2016. The FFF stated Escalettes was a "deeply respected and appreciated figure in French football" who served the sport with "passion, humanity and loyalty."

His presidency also saw the infamous Knysna strike at the 2010 World Cup, which led to player Nicolas Anelka being sent home. Escalettes resigned following France's group stage exit that year. Noel Le Graet succeeded him in 2011.
