Kenya is celebrating a monumental athletic achievement as marathoner Sabastian Sawe returns home after becoming the first man to break the two-hour barrier in a competitive race. Sawe's record-shattering time of 01:59:30 at the London Marathon was met with jubilant scenes at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Officials, including his proud parents, greeted Sawe amidst a throng of cameras and cheering supporters. The welcome included a water cannon salute for his flight and performances by dancers and musicians, highlighting the significance of his accomplishment for the nation.

Sawe's record surpasses the previous mark by over a minute. He achieved this feat by running the second half of the marathon significantly faster than the first. The 31-year-old, who has a perfect record in marathons entered, expressed his joy and anticipation for future races, believing he can achieve even faster times.
