Lamine Yamal believes Barcelona can overcome their 2-0 first-leg deficit against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals. "We mustn't think of a comeback as a miracle," Yamal stated at a press conference ahead of Tuesday's match at the Metropolitano.
Yamal, an 18-year-old La Masia product, emphasized the importance of homegrown players who understand the club's significance. "We're all home-grown, we all love Barca. We know what a moment like this means. We'll give it our all right to the end," he said.
Historically, overturning a 2-0 first-leg home defeat in the Champions League is rare. Manchester United achieved it once against Paris Saint-Germain in 2019. Barcelona's own significant comeback was a 6-1 victory over PSG in 2017, erasing a 4-0 first-leg loss.
Despite a recent Copa del Rey semi-final exit to Atletico after a substantial first-leg defeat, Yamal remains resolute. "We promise that, if we're knocked out, we'll fight right to the end. We'll give our all for this badge. A comeback is very much possible," Yamal affirmed.
