Mexico City announced 18 free soccer fan festivals during the upcoming World Cup. Mayor Clara Brugada stated these events will feature free public screenings, cultural performances, food fairs, and family activities, operating alcohol-free.

The festivals are planned for various city boroughs, including Plaza Garibaldi and Central de Abasto, to extend the World Cup atmosphere beyond official venues. FIFA's primary Fan Fest will be located in the Zocalo, the capital's main square.

Seven festival sites will broadcast all tournament matches, with the remaining eleven showing key games, including those featuring the Mexican team. Events will include giant screens, concerts, sports contests, and traditional workshops.

Food options will highlight Mexican street food and products from local communities. This initiative contrasts with a proposed admission fee for Toronto's fan festival, which faced public opposition.

Mexico City is a host for the 48-team World Cup, which runs from June 11 to July 19 across Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
