Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe says he has fallen to fourth-choice in the pecking order under manager Alvaro Arbeloa after being left out of the starting lineup for Thursday's 2-0 win over Real Oviedo.

The French captain, returning from a hamstring injury, came off the bench in the 68th minute while Arbeloa opted for Vinicius Junior and Gonzalo Garcia up front.

"I'm 100 per cent fine. I haven't played because for the coach I've been the fourth striker in the squad behind Franco Mastantuono, Vini and Gonzalo," Mbappe told reporters.

"I was ready to start, it's his decision and it always has to be respected. I have no problem at all with Arbeloa."

Arbeloa dismissed the notion he told Mbappe he was fourth choice, saying no player who missed the Barcelona match four days earlier could start. He confirmed Mbappe will start Sunday's game at Sevilla.
