Lionel Messi has been cleared by Major League Soccer following a review of post-match video. The league determined that Messi did not violate any policy when he followed match officials through a doorway after Inter Miami's season-opening 3-0 defeat at LAFC.

MLS reviewed the incident, which occurred Saturday, and concluded the area Messi entered was neither the referees' locker room nor a restricted zone. Therefore, no policy was breached.

Video footage showed Inter Miami's Luis Suarez attempting to restrain Messi, but the star forward still proceeded through the doorway before reappearing shortly after. League officials confirmed restricted areas at the venue would have been clearly marked.

Inter Miami, the defending champions, opened their season with the loss. The match itself set a record for the highest attendance in MLS opening weekend history, drawing 75,673 fans.
