Adelaide United striker Luka Jovanovic will miss the A-League semi-final after his match-winning goal celebration led to a red card. Jovanovic scored a double off the bench in Sunday's 2-1 victory, with his 98th-minute winner securing a place in the semi-finals and a share of the league's Golden Boot award.
The 20-year-old was sent off for removing his shirt in celebration, incurring a second yellow card. He had been booked just a minute earlier for his involvement in a melee.
"I wish I could play the next game but I know the boys will do the job," Jovanovic stated.
Adelaide coach Airton Andrioli expressed mixed feelings, acknowledging the disappointment of the ban but praising the striker's decisive performance. "Coming on, scoring two goals," Andrioli said.
