The perfect March Madness bracket might still exist, but the odds have shrunk dramatically. Of the more than 36 million brackets submitted, only 224 remained intact after the first round of games on Friday. The number dropped further to 207 after No. 1 seed Michigan advanced to the Sweet 16.
Kentucky's overtime win over Santa Clara was the biggest bracket buster of the day, eliminating roughly 6,000 entries. Utah State's victory over Villanova added another 3,200 busted brackets.
Upsets in the second round could reduce the number even further, with three No. 11 and No. 12 seeds set to face top seeds on Saturday. Kalshi, a prediction market platform, is offering $1 billion for a perfect bracket, with only two remaining perfect entries on its platform.
