Lionel Messi scored his 900th career goal Wednesday, becoming only the second male player in history to reach the milestone, joining Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 38-year-old Argentine legend netted the landmark goal with a left-footed strike in Inter Miami’s 1-1 draw against Nashville SC in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

The goal came 21 years after his senior debut strike for Barcelona in 2005. Messi reached the mark in 1,142 appearances-nearly 100 fewer than Ronaldo, who achieved it in 1,236 games.

Most of Messi’s goals came at Barcelona (672), followed by 81 for Inter Miami, 32 for Paris Saint-Germain, and 115 for Argentina-where he won the 2022 World Cup.

His 175 knockout goals include 35 in finals. He holds the second-highest Champions League tally with 129, trailing only Ronaldo’s 140.

Inter Miami manager Javier Mascherano called the achievement "insane," adding, "Leo is one of a kind."

Despite the milestone, Miami exited the tournament on away goals after a 0-0 first leg.
