Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni says Lionel Messi is recovering well from a recent muscle injury and could play in the team's final warm-up matches before the World Cup.

The 38-year-old Inter Miami star suffered a muscle strain in a 6-4 MLS win over Philadelphia Union 10 days ago.

Scaloni told reporters in the U.S. Messi has returned to group training and is improving daily. Argentina faces Honduras on Saturday and Iceland on Tuesday.

Messi, six World Cups, led Argentina to the 2022 title in Qatar. The 2026 tournament runs June 11 to July 19.
