March 15 - Manchester United moved three points clear of Aston Villa for fourth place in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory at Old Trafford.
Casemiro opened the scoring in the 53rd minute from a Bruno Fernandes corner. Ross Barkley equalized for Villa before Matheus Cunha restored United’s lead in the 71st minute-assisted by Fernandes for his 100th club assist across all competitions. Substitute Benjamin Sesko sealed the win with a powerful strike ten minutes later.
The result extends interim manager Michael Carrick’s strong run, with United earning 22 points from a possible 27 under his leadership.
Meanwhile, Liverpool squandered a chance to climb into fourth after being held 1-1 at home by Tottenham Hotspur. Dominik Szoboszlai’s 18th-minute free kick put Liverpool ahead, but Richarlison’s 90th-minute equalizer denied them crucial points.
It marked the eighth time this season Liverpool conceded in stoppage time or later. The draw leaves them fifth with 49 points-five behind United. Tottenham, now unbeaten in their last two under interim boss Igor Tudor, remain just one point above the relegation zone.
Nottingham Forest climbed out of the bottom three on goal difference after a 0-0 draw with Fulham, while Leeds earned a hard-fought point at Crystal Palace despite playing most of the match with ten men.
