New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel addressed the controversy surrounding running back TreVeyon Henderson’s social media support for former Chicago Bulls guard Jaden Ivey, who condemned the NBA’s Pride Month celebrations as "unrighteousness."
Henderson, coming off a standout rookie season with 911 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, shared a Bible verse from Matthew 5:10: "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
"I think there is a fine line," Vrabel said. "I love TreVeyon. He cares deeply about his faith, his family, and our team. We want people to express their beliefs-but also understand their actions represent the organization."
Vrabel emphasized education and inclusion, stating the team never dictates how players feel-but consistently reinforces that their conduct extends beyond individual expression.
Ivey, waived by the Bulls over conduct detrimental to the team, has repeatedly posted videos criticizing LGBTQ+ advocacy and labeling Catholicism as "false religion." He cited personal struggles with depression.
Vrabel reiterated the Patriots’ commitment to a respectful, inclusive environment while allowing space for personal conviction.
