Michelle Wie West, a former U.S. Women's Open champion, is returning to professional golf. Organizers announced Monday that Wie West will compete in a new women's indoor golf league, modeled after the tech-infused league created by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

Wie West, who retired in 2023 after a career with five LPGA Tour wins, is also a limited partner for the Los Angeles Golf Club team in the men's TGL league. She expressed enthusiasm for the new venture, stating, "I’m excited for the chance to compete again through WTGL, which will be a powerful platform for women’s golf." Wie West believes the league's innovative format will attract a broader audience to the sport.

The Women's TGL (WTGL) was announced in January by the LPGA and TMRW Sports. It will feature top women golfers competing in fast-paced team match play at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The league already boasts commitments from several top-ranked players, including world number one Jeeno Thitikul.

Wie West first gained national attention at age 13 in 2003 as the youngest competitor to make the cut in an LPGA event. She later achieved fame for her near-cut performance against men in a PGA Tour event. Her career was notably impacted by injuries.
