New Tottenham Hotspur coach Igor Tudor expressed '100 percent' confidence Friday that the North London club will avoid relegation from the Premier League next season. Tudor takes over with Spurs sitting 16th, five points above the drop zone.
His first match is a crucial derby against league leaders Arsenal. When asked about the team's Premier League status next season, Tudor stated, "100 percent!" He emphasized that focusing on relegation is unproductive, stating, "Fighting for every position, relegation, first position, UEFA places - you achieve the position because of what you do during the week and on Sunday."
Tudor dismissed the significance of their five-point cushion, asserting, "Five points (from the relegation zone), 10, two - it is the same. We need to be focused. Let's focus on this and see what we can attain. Looking down or up brings you nothing."
He stressed the importance of team unity and clarity in playing style, rather than specific systems. "It is important to become a team, a group, who will look after each other. For me, this is basic. After that the quality can come out and for me this is a team with quality, with legs that can run. There is potential."
Tudor relishes his debut against Arsenal, calling it "an amazing game to restart." He added, "We need to show them that we care and we want to make a change immediately."
Despite several player injuries and defender Cristian Romero's suspension, Tudor confirmed he has enough players to compete in Sunday's derby.
