Paulo Dybala's international career with Argentina appears over. Head coach Lionel Scaloni omitted the Roma forward from the preliminary 55-man roster for the 2026 World Cup, submitted Monday.

Dybala, 32, last played for Argentina in late 2024. His role shrank due to injuries and the rise of younger players, even though he was part of the 2022 World Cup-winning squad.

Chelsea's Alejandro Garnacho and Benfica's Gianluca Prestianni are among the new faces included. Prestianni is under a global FIFA ban for conduct in a Champions League match, which would sideline him for the first two group games against Algeria and Austria.

Lionel Messi is on the list, but the Inter Miami captain has not confirmed he will play.

The squad will be cut to 26 by May 30. Argentina faces warm-up matches in the U.S. against Honduras and Iceland before opening Group J against Algeria, Austria, and Jordan.
