New Zealand's record goalscorer, Chris Wood, is set to return from a lengthy knee injury spell, a significant boost for both the national team ahead of the World Cup and his club, Nottingham Forest.

Wood, 34, has been sidelined since October and underwent surgery in December. His return was confirmed by Forest coach Vitor Pereira, who stated Wood has resumed training and is available for the team's Europa League quarter-final match.

Wood, who has scored 45 goals for the All Whites, previously played in the 2010 World Cup. New Zealand is set to compete in Group G against Belgium, Egypt, and Iran in June.
