EDMONTON - The Edmonton Oilers are making a strong playoff push after a crucial 4-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.
Connor McDavid scored a goal and added two assists, reclaiming the NHL scoring lead with 31 goals since December 1. His performance helped the Oilers move three points behind the Pacific Division-leading Ducks.
Zach Hyman and Jack Roslovic also scored for the Oilers, who have now won three straight games after a rough stretch.
Rookie Matthew Savoie continues his hot streak, scoring in three consecutive matches and adding to his 13 points over the last 16 games. He has been elevated to the top line alongside McDavid and is contributing on both power play and penalty kill.
Edmonton is 27-5-5 when scoring first this season and remains undefeated at home against Pacific Division teams this year (8-0-2).
Star forward Leon Draisaitl remains sidelined with a lower-body injury, prompting the team to adjust its approach. Coach Kris Knoblauch emphasized increased effort and intensity from the squad.
Goalie Connor Ingram made 27 saves to secure the win. Defenceman Evan Bouchard extended his point streak against Anaheim to 11 games and now leads all NHL defenseman with 86 points.
The Ducks' efforts were led by Beckett Sennecke and Cutter Gauthier, but they couldn't overcome the Oilers' momentum. Anaheim’s four-game winning streak ended, and they now trail in all 17 games since returning from the Olympics.
