Leandro Paredes scored a first-half penalty, giving Boca Juniors a 1-0 away victory over River Plate in Sunday's Argentine Superclasico. The win halted River's nine-match unbeaten streak and marked their first defeat under coach Eduardo Coudet.

The decisive goal came just before halftime when captain Paredes converted a penalty kick, following a VAR review that determined Lautaro Rivero handled the ball in the box. River Plate had started brightly but suffered an early setback with an injury to striker Sebastian Driussi.

Boca Juniors had opportunities to extend their lead after halftime, but River's goalkeeper Santiago Beltran made several key saves. Despite a spirited effort from River in the second half, they failed to generate significant scoring chances, and late penalty appeals were denied.
