The Open Championship is set to return to Royal Lytham & St Annes in 2028. Golf's oldest major will be held on the famed Fylde links from July 30 to August 6, organizers announced. This marks the 12th time the historic venue has hosted the championship. The course last welcomed the tournament in 2012, when Ernie Els claimed victory.

"Royal Lytham & St Annes is widely renowned as one of the world's finest links courses and has witnessed many great championship moments," stated Mark Darbon, Chief Executive of The R&A. "This is one of golf's most cherished and historic venues."

The 2026 Open is scheduled for Royal Birkdale Golf Club, with St Andrews hosting in 2027. Plans for The Open to return to Turnberry, Scotland, are contingent on local transport infrastructure improvements.
