Ronda Rousey finally got the ending her legendary MMA career deserved. On Saturday, the 39-year-old Olympic judo bronze medalist submitted Gina Carano in just 17 seconds with her signature armbar, then announced her retirement from the sport.

"There's no way I could have ended it better than this," Rousey said. "I want to have some more babies."

The fight took place under Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions banner. It was a chance for Rousey to exorcise the ghosts of her two devastating knockout losses-to Holly Holm in 2015 and Amanda Nunes in 2016-which had tarnished her legacy since her heyday as the first UFC women's bantamweight champion.

Carano, 44, had not fought in 17 years and is now better known as an actor. While she was a pioneer alongside Rousey, she was no match in the cage.

"I feel like a ghost was banished," Rousey said. "This is exactly what I needed-that was closure."
