Reigning world champion Sebastien Ogier secured his first win of the 2026 World Rally Championship season at Spain's Rally Islas Canarias on Sunday.
The Toyota driver, with co-driver Vincent Landais, took the lead early in the rally. Teammate Oliver Solberg had reduced the gap to 2.2 seconds but crashed out on the third stage after hitting a barrier, his car sustaining irreparable damage. Both drivers were unharmed.
"Rallying is tough. Being fast is important but being at the end is even more," Ogier commented. This victory marks Ogier's 68th career WRC win.
Elfyn Evans finished second, with Sami Pajari third, and Takamoto Katsuta fourth. The championship standings now see Evans leading with 101 points, followed by Katsuta on 99. Ogier is sixth with 58 points.
The series now transitions to gravel for Rally Portugal.
