Cristiano Ronaldo confirmed his World Cup career is over after Portugal's 1-0 defeat to Spain in the round of 16. Mikel Merino scored the late winner.

The 41-year-old forward told reporters he is sad to exit the tournament this way but gave his all. He stated he will not make a hasty decision about his future with the national team.

Ronaldo highlighted his legacy, noting Portugal won three major titles during his tenure, including the 2016 European Championship.

He also praised outgoing manager Roberto Martinez, calling him a great human being whose work for Portugal is commendable.
