TORONTO - Scottie Barnes, theoretically a power forward, delivered a historic all-around performance at point guard for the Toronto Raptors, filling in for the injured Immanuel Quickley.
Barnes recorded 23 points, 12 assists, six rebounds, two steals, and three blocks in 36 minutes, guiding Toronto to a 119-106 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. It marked his third consecutive game with over 10 assists and his career-best 27th double-double of the season.
"I’m just going to do what I can to win," Barnes said. "Whatever it is-starting point guard, guarding the five-I’m ready."
Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic praised Barnes’ unique versatility. "He’s a pass-first player with elite transition vision. His size and athleticism let him play over the top of the defense."
Second-year guard Ja’Kobe Walter started in Quickley’s place, scoring 18 points and adding four assists. Barnes commended Walter’s shooting and defensive intensity, calling him a reliable weapon in clutch moments.
Rookie center Collin Murray-Boyles exited early with back spasms, finishing with nine points and two rebounds.
