Scotland captain Andy Robertson says he will carry the World Cup dream of his late Liverpool teammate, Diogo Jota, after receiving a heartfelt letter from Jota's widow.

Jota died in a car accident last July at age 28. After Scotland secured their first World Cup berth in 28 years, Robertson said his thoughts immediately turned to his former teammate.

In a FIFA feature titled 'Letters That Unite,' Robertson shared a letter from Rute Cardoso, Jota's widow. She wrote that Jota often spoke of their friendship, battles, laughs, and shared dreams-including the World Cup.

"When I heard your words...I realised that Diogo never truly left the pitch," the letter read. "By achieving that moment and securing your place at the World Cup, you won’t be going alone; you'll be taking his dream with you too."

Robertson responded, "I'm not only just playing for me, I'm playing for both of us."

Scotland opens Group C against Haiti in Boston on June 13, followed by matches against Morocco and Brazil.
