Sanju Samson rediscovered his dominant form Saturday, smashing an unbeaten 115 off 56 balls to lead Chennai to a 23-run victory over Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.
The wicketkeeper-batter, who struggled in the early season after moving from Rajasthan Royals, delivered a commanding performance featuring 15 fours and four sixes. He received significant support from 18-year-old Ayush Mhatre, who contributed 59 off 36 balls.
Chennai posted a total of 212-2, with Delhi managing 189 in reply.
"A couple of failures definitely put a lot of doubts in your mind," Samson stated post-match. "But I just wanted to go back and do my basics and believe in myself."
This century marks Samson's fourth in the IPL and secures Chennai's first win of the season, easing pressure on the five-time champions. The team remains ninth in the standings with two points from four games.
