Tottenham Hotspur's Champions League exit against Atletico Madrid was an "one-in-a-million" incident, according to forward Dominic Solanke. The team conceded three goals in the opening 15 minutes, including two from goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky's errors, and a defensive slip by Micky van de Ven contributed to another. Despite a 5-2 loss, Solanke's goal offered a brief spark.
"The first 20 minutes was difficult, very difficult circumstances which are one in a million," Solanke stated. "You never prepare for that."
Kinsky was substituted after his blunders. Manager Igor Tudor faces pressure, having lost all four games since taking over as interim manager following Thomas Frank's dismissal.
Solanke acknowledged the stark contrast between their Champions League performance and league form. "We've been so good in the Champions League this year but we know we haven't been anywhere near good enough in the league," he said. "We need to be better in every department. We're trying to stay positive."
Tottenham currently sits 16th in the Premier League, just above the relegation zone.
