Global revenues in women's elite sports are projected to reach at least $3 billion for the first time in 2026. This figure represents a 25% increase compared to last year, when revenues stood at $2.4 billion, according to a Deloitte report.
Basketball and soccer have been the primary drivers of this growth. Projections indicate a 340% revenue increase between 2022 and 2026.
Broadcast rights are expected to account for a quarter of these revenues, with matchday income contributing 30%.
Jennifer Haskel, knowledge and insights lead at the Deloitte Sports Business Group, stated that surpassing the $3 billion mark would be a significant achievement, solidifying women's sport's prominence. She emphasized the importance of data collection and analysis for sustained success.
Football and basketball are anticipated to remain the dominant revenue generators, each contributing approximately 35% of the total in 2026.
North America is projected to lead revenue generation at $1.64 billion (54% of total), followed by Europe at $434 million (14%).
