The Toronto Maple Leafs are overhauling their front office after missing the playoffs. The team has brought back franchise legend Mats Sundin as senior executive adviser of hockey operations, and named John Chayka as general manager.
Sundin, the team's all-time points leader and former captain, returns after 13 seasons away. Chayka, known for his analytics-driven approach, was previously the NHL's youngest general manager with the Arizona Coyotes. The organization is still chasing its first Stanley Cup since 1967. A news conference is expected Monday.
