Sevilla, Spain - Vinicius Jr. scored a first-half strike to lift Real Madrid to a 1-0 win over Sevilla in LaLiga on Sunday. The victory keeps Real Madrid second in the table with 83 points, while Sevilla remains 13th with 43 points.

Sevilla started stronger, but Real Madrid struck in the 14th minute. Kylian Mbappe, back in the starting lineup after being controversially benched by manager Alvaro Arbeloa, controlled a pass with his chest and fed Vinicius inside the area. The Brazilian winger finished low into the bottom corner past goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.

Both teams created chances but failed to convert. Mbappe had a goal ruled out for offside in the second half after rounding the keeper.

The match was overshadowed by Mbappe’s recent comments, where the 27-year-old France captain claimed he is now a fourth-choice forward following his omission from the previous 2-0 win over Real Oviedo.
