Victor Wembanyama made history Monday night, setting an NBA postseason record with 12 blocks in the San Antonio Spurs' 104-102 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.

Wembanyama finished with 11 points, 15 rebounds and 12 blocks, becoming just the third player to record a triple-double including blocks since the league started tracking the stat in 1973-74. However, he went just 5-of-17 from the field.

"We have to be better," Wembanyama said. "We need to figure out before 48 hours what we can do better, and I've got no doubt that we will."

The Timberwolves got an unexpected boost as guard Anthony Edwards returned from a knee injury earlier than expected. He scored 18 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter.

"Nobody expected him to play," Timberwolves guard Mike Conley said of Edwards. "It showed a lot."

Game 2 is Wednesday night in San Antonio.
