New Zealand prop Tamaiti Williams has been ruled out of the remainder of the Super Rugby Pacific season due to a spinal infection.
The 25-year-old loosehead is hospitalized with discitis, an infection in one of the vertebrae discs, according to the Canterbury Crusaders.
Williams' absence deals a blow to the defending champions, currently ranked sixth in the standings.
He expressed disappointment but relief, saying he’s expected to recover fully. His return for the All Blacks’ July test series against France, Italy, and Ireland remains uncertain.
