WNBA champion Kara Braxton has died at the age of 43. The league confirmed her passing on Monday.

Braxton was a 10-season veteran who played for the Detroit Shock, Tulsa Shock, Phoenix Mercury, and New York Liberty. She was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2005 WNBA Draft out of Georgia.

She was an All-Star in 2007 and a key member of the Detroit Shock's championship teams in 2006 and 2008. The Liberty organization noted her "presence and passion" left a lasting impact.

Braxton averaged 7.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game over her 297 career appearances.
