Mexico, Switzerland and Brazil Top Groups as World Cup Group Stage Concludes

Mexico, Switzerland and Brazil finished atop their respective groups as the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage came to a close.

Switzerland edged Canada 2-1 in Vancouver to win Group B with seven points. Ruben Vargas and Johan Manzambi scored before Promise David pulled one back for the co-hosts. Bosnia beat Qatar 3-1 to keep third-place hopes alive.

Brazil dominated Scotland 3-0 behind a Vinicius Jr brace and Matheus Cunha goal. Neymar made his tournament debut off the bench, his first national team appearance since 2023. Brazil finished level on points with Morocco but top Group C on goal difference after Morocco's 4-2 comeback win over Haiti.

Mexico blanked Czechia 3-0 at Estadio Azteca, getting goals from Mateo Chávez, Julián Quiñones and Alvaro Fidalgo. El Tri won all three group matches for the first time. South Africa advanced for the first time ever, beating South Korea 1-0 on Thapelo Maseko's goal.
