The World Endurance Championship (WEC) has postponed its season-opening race in Qatar, originally scheduled for March 26-28. The decision comes amid heightened regional tensions and the closure of airports, impacting travel and safety.

The Qatar 1812km race will now be rescheduled for later in the 2026 season. The WEC season will commence with the Six Hours of Imola in Italy on April 17-19.

Meanwhile, Formula 1 races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, slated for April, are under close scrutiny. The FIA is monitoring the situation, with both races having sold out ticket sales. While rescheduling is complex due to climate and calendar constraints, alternatives could include European circuits.

Formula 1 is currently operating with contingency plans for team travel, utilizing charter flights and alternative routes. Officials state that decisions regarding the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will prioritize the safety and security of all attendees, with several weeks before a definitive assessment is required.
