Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sunderland have strongly condemned racist abuse directed at their players on social media following weekend match defeats. Striker Tolu Arokodare of Wolves and winger Romaine Mundle of Sunderland were targeted by online abuse.
Wolves expressed disgust at the multiple instances of abuse aimed at Arokodare after their 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace. The club stated their unwavering support for players facing such attacks from anonymous accounts.
Sunderland, following a 3-1 defeat to Fulham, confirmed they are collaborating with authorities to identify individuals responsible for messages targeting Mundle. The club emphasized that this abhorrent behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
