The Trump administration has restricted access to Anthropic's most advanced artificial intelligence models for all users outside the United States. The directive targets the Fable 5 and Mythos 5 systems, citing national security risks and effectively cutting off European clients.

Brussels is responding sharply. The European Commission states that such export controls must not be discriminatory toward allies. Commissioner Thomas Regnier argued that contingency measures regarding national security should protect partners rather than isolate them.

The blockade intensifies the push for European technological sovereignty. Officials view the restriction as proof that the bloc needs to rely less on US infrastructure and more on its own cybersecurity laws.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is scheduled to discuss these developments directly with G7 leaders and industry heads during a working lunch later this week.
