Anthropic, the AI company behind Claude, is working to de-escalate tensions with the White House after being classified as a national security supply-chain risk earlier this year. The dispute began when Anthropic refused to allow the US military to use its AI models for domestic surveillance or fully autonomous weapons systems.

CEO Dario Amodei met with White House officials in mid-April, opening a channel for dialogue. The company is now in heightened discussions with multiple agencies, including the Treasury Department. However, Anthropic continues to legally challenge its blacklisting.

The confidential IPO filing, expected around June 1, 2026, targets a valuation of up to $1 trillion. Analysts are watching whether the supply-chain risk designation will be lifted before the IPO. The company's prospectus will likely flag regulatory risk as a material concern.
