U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell met with major bank CEOs this week to discuss cybersecurity risks associated with Anthropic's new AI model, sources revealed.
Anthropic's powerful "Mythos" model, launched recently, has been withheld from wide release due to concerns it could exploit vulnerabilities across major operating systems and web browsers.
The meeting at the Treasury Department aimed to ensure banks are prepared to defend their systems against such advanced AI threats.
Access to Mythos is currently restricted to about 40 technology firms, including Microsoft and Google. Anthropic has been in discussions with the U.S. government regarding the model's capabilities.
CEOs from Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Goldman Sachs reportedly attended the briefing.
