Australian AI infrastructure company Firmus Technologies has signed a strategic partnership with Nvidia Corp. The agreement aims to provide emerging "AI Native" firms with more cost-effective access to computing power.
Under the deal, Firmus will purchase Nvidia infrastructure and sell Nvidia-powered cloud services. This structure will generate product revenue and a share of cloud revenue for the U.S. chip giant.
The partnership will deliver 170,000 Graphics Processing Units (GPU) from the first quarter of 2027 through early 2028. The hardware will be located in Batam, Indonesia.
Firmus projects the deal could generate up to $30 billion in revenue over its first six years, based on customer commitments. Co-CEO Tim Rosenfield stated the arrangement helps level the playing field between large, well-capitalized firms and smaller AI startups.
Nvidia is already an investor in Firmus, having participated in its previous capital raisings. Firmus reported a $5.5 billion valuation after raising $1.35 billion in late 2023 and early 2024. Investment banks have been appointed for a potential initial public offering.
