A US federal judge in San Francisco has issued a temporary injunction halting the Pentagon's ban on Anthropic, the top player in enterprise AI markets. Judge Rita Lin ruled that the Trump administration's actions against the company were 'arbitrary, capricious, and an abuse of discretion.' The dispute arose over Anthropic's refusal to allow their technology, Claude, for use in lethal autonomous weapons and mass surveillance. On Feb. 27, President Trump had ordered federal agencies to stop using Anthropic products, but Judge Lin's decision now provides Anthropic with a temporary reprieve.

Anthropic is grateful for the court's swift action, stating they are likely to succeed on the merits of their case.
