OpenAI has reportedly agreed to a multi-year deal worth over $20 billion with chip startup Cerebras. This commitment secures OpenAI access to servers powered by Cerebras' specialized chips.

The agreement, which could also grant OpenAI an equity stake in Cerebras, is a significant expansion from a previous deal where OpenAI committed more than $10 billion for computing capacity. The escalating investment underscores the intense demand for computational power to fuel AI model development and deployment.

Sources suggest OpenAI's total spending over the next three years could approach $30 billion. In return, OpenAI may receive warrants representing up to a 10% stake in Cerebras. The deal also includes a $1 billion commitment from OpenAI to aid in the development of data centers for Cerebras' AI products.

For Cerebras, this partnership is crucial as the company reportedly prepares for an IPO, with plans for a potential listing in the second quarter and a significant funding round next month.
