Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Hideaki Nishino says the rate of new game releases will accelerate further as AI development tools lower barriers and speed up production.

In a presentation to investors, Nishino stated Sony expects a meaningful increase in both the volume and diversity of content. He cited AI tools that automate repetitive workflows in quality assurance, 3D modeling, and animation-including a tool called Mockingbird that converts motion capture data into in-game animation in a fraction of a second.

Sony Group President and CEO Hiroki Totoki added that AI-driven efficiency will lead to more innovative and ambitious projects. He highlighted a pilot partnership with Bandai Namco that identified massive gains in speed and productivity in video production.

While Totoki noted the need to fine-tune generic AI models to ensure consistency, he said these models can produce highly sophisticated outputs previously unfeasible due to time constraints.
