Anthropic argues this designation was retaliation for refusing unfettered access to its AI tools over concerns of misuse for mass surveillance and autonomous weapons.
Despite past criticism from the Trump administration, labeling Anthropic a "radical left, woke company," the White House statement highlighted exploring "the balance between advancing innovation and ensuring safety." The Mythos tool, accessible to only a few dozen companies, is noted for its capability in finding and exploiting bugs in legacy code.
