Calgary police have charged a 17-year-old former student with attempted murder following a violent incident at Lester B. Pearson High School. Authorities describe the Thursday afternoon assault as premeditated.
Officers responded just after noon to reports of an armed youth threatening staff and attempting to stab a student. The suspect also allegedly damaged property before police entered the building and took him into custody within minutes.
The campus remained under lockdown while officers searched every room to ensure safety. Investigators confirmed the attack was planned in advance.

The accused faces charges of attempted murder, uttering threats, and mischief to property. Protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, he is scheduled for court on June 22, 2026.
