Four people died in two separate avalanches in northern British Columbia on Sunday, March 22.
Three heli-skiers were killed on the Iridium Shoulder ski run near Mount Knauss, north of Terrace. A fourth skier from the group suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital.
Later that day, a second avalanche struck near the Klehini River and Pleasant Camp-about 350 kilometers west of Atlin and close to the Canada-U.S. border near Skagway, Alaska. One person died; four others were unharmed.
The BC Coroners Service is investigating both incidents. Avalanche Canada rated the Terrace region as 'considerable' risk and the border area as 'moderate' the following day.
