Ontario Provincial Police confirmed that Nancy Grewal, a 45-year-old Punjabi social media influencer, was fatally stabbed in LaSalle on March 3-months after her Windsor home was targeted in an arson.
Surveillance footage from November 8 shows a man exiting a van, pouring liquid on her front porch, and igniting a fire before fleeing. Neither the arsonist nor Grewal’s killer has been identified.
Police believe Grewal was deliberately targeted. She was attacked after leaving a residence on Todd Lane and later died in hospital. Authorities executed search warrants at both the Todd Lane home and Grewal’s Windsor residence but say the Todd Lane occupants are not persons of interest.
Grewal had publicly spoken out against Khalistan extremism. Her murder comes amid heightened tensions between Canada and India over Sikh separatist activism, including the 2023 killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar-a case Prime Minister Justin Trudeau linked to Indian government agents.
LaSalle police stress this was not a random act. The investigation remains active, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
