Cuban border guards fatally shot four crewmembers aboard a US-registered speedboat on Wednesday. The vessel reportedly failed to halt when ordered within Cuban territorial waters and subsequently opened fire on a police patrol boat.
Six other individuals on the speedboat sustained injuries during the exchange. The commander of the Cuban police boat was also wounded. All injured parties received immediate medical attention.
The Florida-registered speedboat, identified by registration number FL7726SH, approached the Falcones Cay area. A patrol boat was dispatched to investigate, leading to the confrontation.
