The City of Surrey has officially announced a new major development: a 10,000-seat arena that will serve as the new home for the Vancouver Giants hockey club.

Mayor Brenda Locke called the project transformative, stating it will bring significant jobs, investment, and world-class entertainment to the city. The City Centre Arena and Cultural Event Centre is part of a larger district that will include a hotel, conference space, and housing.

The city projects the development will generate $2.4 billion in economic benefits over the next decade. The total estimated cost for the arena is $360 million, with funding already allocated in the city's 2026 budget.

The facility will be built on land across from city hall and the Surrey Central SkyTrain Station. Completion is targeted for 2030.
